Modernism, Postmodernism, The Anthropocene

1. Post-Modernism starts on October 6, 1973 and stops on December 16, 2010. The dates are the start of the Yom Kippur War and the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi.

2. The Anthropocene starts at some point in 2011.

This makes me wonder if perhaps the Middle East doesn’t define Post-Modernity. Is this another form of Orientalism?

Or more interestingly: Here’s the weird thing — there are multiple Modernities… European, American, Japanese, Chinese, etc. So what is Post-Modern is the Med/Atlantic World may not coincide with Modernity in the Pacific World. Perhaps Modernity/Modernism began in the Middle East. And ending in the Middle East was merely coming full circle. Only Oswald Spengler will truly know. ;)
