Sexless and Mirthless in Texas

What is so chilling about Texas’ new abortion law isn’t the lack of provisions for rape or incest. Nor is it the effective end of legal abortion in Texas. It is the weaponization of the citizenry against each other’s sex lives. What I do with my dick now becomes a matter of a civil court. Queer readers will chortle “welcome to the club”, but even that fails to transmit just how utterly fucking ridiculous this law is. The only way to be outside suspicion of this law is to not only not get an abortion, but to also stay away from those who do. The only way to avoid risk 100% in this situation is to be celibate and surround yourself with celibate people. Cause civil courts don’t operate on a guilty until proven innocent principle. And you gotta pay your own court costs. There is no reason not to sue people. The Texas GOP got what they wanted — an utterly prudish, sexless state run by mirthless white Protestant males. Why would an Fortune 500 company move here? Why would athletes join our sports teams? Why would anyone stay in Texas? This is ridiculous letting a state as cosmopolitan and diverse as Texas actually is be governed by rural white men who want to return us to The Last Picture Show.
